Education

Welcome to the Education Department’s homepage. Our department’s emphasis is on providing candidates with the professional education coursework and field experiences needed for state certification in Elementary Education (K-9), Secondary Education (9-12), or Special Certificate (K-12). Blackburn’s Education Department offers seven different certification programs:

1. Elementary Education (K-9)
2. Secondary English Education (9-12)
3. Secondary Mathematics Education (9-12)
4. Secondary Science Education: Biology (9-12)
5. Secondary Social Science Education: History (9-12)
6. Physical Education (K-12)
7. Visual Arts Education (K-12)

Students who complete Blackburn’s Teacher Education Program are well prepared to teach in elementary, middle, and high schools, and many decide to pursue advanced degrees in education or administration.
