Student Life - "It's What You Make of It"
Things to Bring
Items you should bring include all linens and towels, a pillow, a wastebasket, a reading lamp, and a bed board if you need one. When purchasing sheets for your room it is important to note that most mattresses on campus are extra long (80”). In addition, you will want to bring anything else that makes you feel at home such as rugs, pictures, plants, and posters. In many cases, these are major necessities, as they will give your room personality. No nails are allowed in the walls.
It is a good idea to check with your roommate before buying such things as telephones, curtains, and stereos. You may be able to share expenses. The college does not provide curtains or curtain rods. We suggest that students living in Butler, Jewell, and Stoddard bring a 56” tension rod for each window in their room. Students living in Graham,
Challacombe, and Jones need two 56” tension rods.

Finally, the College does not carry insurance for any of your personal property. Check with your parents to see if your property would be covered by their homeowner’s policy for theft and damage. If not, you should consider supplemental coverage.
