Name: Amber Kerr
Year: Senior
Major: Sports Management

Your job may be to help prepare or serve food, clean the residence halls, mow the grounds or perform carpentry, utilities or other skilled maintenance tasks. You may be needed in the Admissions Office to conduct a campus tour or perform clerical work. Perhaps there is a need for someone with retail experience in the Bookstore. You might have computer experience that helps meet a need in the Computer Lab or an Administrative Office. The Public Relations office might need someone with photography or editing skills to help with the yearbook or campus newspaper. Students perform a variety of services, all of which are important to the day-to-day operation of the college. A host of other jobs exist in the areas of Academic and Athletic services, as well as Campus Security, Community Service, and the Library.

Hopefully, if you do not already, you will come to appreciate
that all work is important that supports the functioning of a
community, and that often some of the less desirable or
rewarded work is some of the most essential. You will also
learn to manage your time, to be responsible and accountable,
and to work with others as a team and discover the personal
satisfaction that comes from being an active, contributing
member of a community. You will also have the opportunity to
make some lifelong friendships while earning your way through
school, and gaining some valuable work experience.

  Student Work Stories

"The Work Program was very beneficial; I have learned all the skills I am using right now. It helped me to be responsible and get out of my comfort zone, which was what I needed to be helpful to other people. Because of all the experience I had, I now have a job doing survey and research, and supervising employees. Thank you Blackburn College."
