Kathy Ruiter
Admissions Representative / Coordinator of Transfer
Recruitment
Kathy began working at Blackburn
as an Administrative Assistant in 1988 and moved into her
current role in 2001. She earned a B.S. from Blackburn in
2000 and went on to obtain a M.B.A. in 2003 from Baker
College in Flint, MI. Kathy loves the fact that Blackburn
offers students a work – learning environment through the
Work Program that prepares students for life’s challenges
after college. She receives a sense of accomplishment by
helping students and parents understand Blackburn’s mission.
Kathy enjoys getting to know students and parents and
sharing with them the opportunities at Blackburn, the
advantages of a Blackburn education and making them feel
comfortable during the admission and enrollment process.
When asked what advice he gives to students searching for
the right college Kathy stated, “Higher education today is
like going to a shopping mall, there are so many choices and
if you look hard enough you will find something that fits. I
recommend researching a variety of colleges and
universities. Narrow your choices and visit those campuses.
Ask questions when you visit that are important to you.
Choose your college by how comfortable you feel with the
academic program, social atmosphere and the overall
environment. Choosing a college on name recognition alone
may not meet your expectations once you get there.” Contact Information:
