Brown, Holm to be Inducted into Blackburn Athletic Hall of Fame
Two outstanding former Blackburn College athletes will be inducted
into the Blackburn College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007. This
year’s recipients are Lee Brown, Blackburn Class of 1955, and Dick
Holm, Blackburn Class of 1957. Both are among the earliest stars of
the Blackburn athletics program.
Brown earned nine varsity letters in his Blackburn career, starring
in basketball, tennis, and track and field as he was voted the
school’s Most Athletic Man in 1955. Following his time at Blackburn,
he served a 23-year career in the United States Navy, where he
continued his athletic endeavors and earned accolades in basketball,
tennis, and golf. He now resides in San Diego, CA., where he was the
Founding President of the Lake Murray Tennis Club and has won thirty
Senior Olympics medals in his lifetime.
Holm was an eleven-time letter winner at Blackburn, earning acclaim
in basketball, tennis, and soccer. A past Distinguished Alumnus at
Blackburn, he later embarked on a storied career in the Central
Intelligence Agency and served his country around the globe,
becoming a respected member of government service. He currently
lives in McLean, VA.
Both Brown and Holm will be honored at the Alumni Awards Banquet
during the annual Blackburn Homecoming on the evening of Saturday,
Sept. 29. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. in the Demuzio Center on the
Blackburn campus. With the induction of Brown and Holm, who remained
lifelong friends, the number of members of the Blackburn Athletics
Hall of Fame will rise to thirty-six.
