Alumni Recruitment
Many Blackburn students could use help in researching their potential career choice. One of the best methods of finding out about careers is to talk with those who work in that career field every day. That’s where you can help! Jerry
Ohare, Coordinator of Career Services at Blackburn College, is actively recruiting Blackburn College alumni who would be willing to assist the staff in Career Services in aiding current Blackburn students and alumni who are interested in finding out more about career opportunities.
This is strictly a volunteer program. Alumni who are interested should complete the “Blackburn College Alumni/Student Networking Survey”
By completing this survey, your name and information will be entered into a database in the Alumni Development Office. This information will then be used for a variety of purposes (depending on how you complete the survey). You might be contacted by a staff member or students to speak to a class or to discuss your career with a student. You may be asked to be a mentor to a student, host a student in job-shadowing or host a student intern in your place of employment. You may even be asked to assist with student management training. This is a great opportunity for Blackburn students. It can provide them with good information about their potential career and can also help them make decisions about future schooling --- like graduate school. It also can benefit you and your employer. Being a mentor, job-shadow or internship site gives you and your employer an opportunity to evaluate a potential future employee.
Once in the database, you may be called upon by a student, alumni or faculty member to assist in providing career information. You may be asked to assist with any of the items in which you indicated you would be willing to become involved. Your assistance may be just what a student needs to help him or her define a career goal for themselves.
Please be aware that you will only be called upon if a student or alumni requests information specific to your particular career. Since some careers are not as frequently requested as others, do not be alarmed if you are not contacted in the near future. Your information will be shared only if you indicate you are willing for us to share it and you may have your information removed from the careers network program database at anytime by contacting Jerry Ohare, Coordinator of Career Services,
via email or phone at 217/ 854-3231 extension 4361.
If you are willing to participate in this program, please go to the survey now and complete the required fields and hit the send button. You may print the survey out and mail it if you choose.
Thank you for participating in this important program. Blackburn students will benefit greatly from your participation.
Sincerely,
Jerry Ohare
