Blackburn's McClom is SLIAC Player of the Week
In
recognition of her exceptional performance in her team’s
victory over Fontbonne on Saturday afternoon, Blackburn
College guard Lovie McClom has been named St. Louis
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week
in women’s basketball.
McClom, a 5’5 sophomore from Bloomington, Ill., scored a
career-high 19 points and made some clutch plays down
the stretch to help Blackburn beat Fontbonne 75-73,
ending a 19-game losing streak to the Griffins. She was
7-of-13 from the field and pulled down five rebounds
while dishing out five assists.
A second-year starter for the Beavers, McClom was a
co-captain on the 2006 Bloomington High School squad
that won a regional title and earned a share of the Big
12 title. Known for her quickness and energy, McClom
started 18 games as a freshman and, despite her small
size, finished second on the Beavers in rebounding while
leading the team in assists and averaging 7.2 points per
game.
