Sackett Releases 2010 Schedule

Blackburn College Head Softball Coach Ryan Sackett has released the 2010 Schedule. The season gets underway with a spring break trip to Arkansas and Memphis. In Conway, Arkansas, the Beavers will participate in the Hendrix College Spring Fling Tournament where they will battle conference foes Westminster and Mac Murray while also playing the hosts from Hendrix as well as the University of Dallas. After the tournament, the Beavers will travel to the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas and then be back in Conway to take on Central Baptist College. Then it is on to Memphis, where on back to back days, Blackburn will play LeMoyne-Owen College and Rhodes College before playing Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri on the way home. “We have a very tough non-conference schedule that gets into full swing on Spring Break. We play one DII school, several top NAIA schools, and several very good DIII schools, said Sackett"

After spring break, the Beavers host two non-conference opponents before beginning league play. On the weekend of March 20 &21, Blackburn will host Wartburg College and Robert Morris College of Springfield. "Hopefully all of the challenging games early in the season will have us prepared for our conference schedule, which is always tough. I look forward to seeing how this team competes and what we are made of,” added Sackett.

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of the schedule kicks off with a season-opening tournament in Springfield, where the Beavers will play Mac Murray, Principia, Westminster, and Spalding. The home portion of the conference season begins with Eureka College on March 31. The SLIAC tournament is slated for May 6 through May 8 with the top.
