Teaching Effectiveness and Commitment

Teaching is my most important responsibility at Blackburn College. I actively spend a great deal of time on and off campus preparing, adapting, and modifying course material to better suit the educational needs of our students. I consider my organization and preparation for class crucial to my effectiveness. I have made changes, modified course assignments, focused on current topics, used various forms of assessment, and most importantly use a variety of teaching styles and strategies. I work closely with publisher representatives to select the right texts and materials to meet the student’s needs in each course.

I am committed to my students for the advancement of knowledge and scholarly competence and honest and fair evaluation of students. I ask my students to commit to academic honesty, confidentiality, and vigorous pursuit of knowledge, respect, and responsibility to themselves, their peers and this institution of higher learning.
