Before the construction of this facility, art classes were held on the third floor of Hudson Hall. Theresa M. Renner, a Carlinville native, who attended and taught at Blackburn College, provided the funds for Renner in her will. Its 6,000 square feet include faculty offices, a design room, studios for ceramics and sculpture, a glaze room, several kilns, and an art gallery. Construction of Renner began in the summer of 1967, and was dedicated on October 19, 1968.
