Extraordinary
Educational Value
|
In response to
universal concerns about the rising
costs of a college education,
Blackburn
College has restructured tuition
charges and institutional financial
assistance programs
to allow new student tuition to be
lowered by 15%. |
Why is Blackburn reducing
tuition cost?
At a time when most colleges and universities
are raising tuition and fees, Blackburn College
is acting to responsibly address the issue of
financial access to quality in higher education.
For the 2008-2009 academic year, Blackburn
College will reduce tuition for new students by
15%. The tuition reduction is fiscally
responsible, demonstrating to students and
parents that a Blackburn education is an
extraordinary value. In addition, students will
benefit from a straightforward, "no haggle"
approach to financial assistance and the cost of
tuition.
What is the tuition charge
for the 2008-2009 academic year?
$13,500 is the new tuition rate for the
2008-2009 academic year, a reduction of $2,270
from the current tuition rate.
How can Blackburn reduce
tuition?
First, Blackburn students help keep the
College's operational cost low through
participation in the College's student-managed
Work Program. For their work, students receive
at least $2,400 to help meet tuition expenses.
Second, by restructuring our financial aid
policy, we can further reduce tuition cost and
provide students with a clear understanding of
tuition charges and the value of a Blackburn
education. Our goal is to make college cost more
affordable and easier to understand.
Will need-based financial
aid be available?
Yes. Federal and State need-based grant
assistance programs will continue to be
available to qualified students.
Will merit-based financial
aid be available?
Yes. Merit-based financial aid will be
available to new students who meet specific
qualifications based on academic achievement in
high school. Most recipients of these awards
will find their cost to attend Blackburn as
affordable as the cost to attend a public
university. |
