Blackburn College Announces Search for a

Manager of Development Operations

 

Blackburn College, located in Carlinville, IL, is currently engaged in a search for an individual of integrity and high energy to oversee the daily operations of its Development Office.

 

Founded in 1837 and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), Blackburn College provides a coeducational student body with a rigorous, distinctive and affordable liberal arts education that prepares its graduates to be responsible, productive citizens.  The College fosters a sense of service, community, and moral responsibility through its unique student managed work program, its collegial concept of shared governance, and its faculty/staff mentor relationship with students.

 

Reporting to the VPIA, the Manager of Development Operations has primary responsibility for the daily operations of the Development Office and staff including planning, goal-setting, execution, control and evaluation of fundraising.  The Manager works with the VPIA and Board Committees to provide support for all fundraising activities designed to support the mission of Blackburn College.  The ability to lead and motivate a staff of seven full-time professionals and five to eight students is central to the success of this individual.  The Manager must be an experienced professional with a demonstrated ability to raise funds who can evaluate the staff and provide (or arrange to be provided) the information and training necessary for success in the current fundraising environment.  The manager must have a sophisticated understanding of and ability to use Blackbaud and eTapestry such that s/he can help the staff identify prospects and establish strategies for donor development.  The Manager will meet with the College leadership team on a regular basis as necessary to insure communication and coordination of responsibilities.  The individual will be evaluated on the ability to organize and motivate staff to achieve agreed-upon fundraising goals.

 

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
  • Experienced fundraising professional with specific experience in higher education.
  • Experience with eTapestry and Blackbaud.
  • Demonstrated success in using moves management techniques to increase productivity.
  • Capacity to motivate reports.

Criminal Justice Professor
