Blackburn College, a unique liberal arts college with a distinctive student-managed work program, located 45 miles south of Springfield, IL, invites applications for the following positions:

 

Director of Residence Life.

Candidates tasks will include supervision of a residence hall program for 6 halls housing 450 students: coordination of all staff recruitment, selection, training, & evaluation; all student housing assignments; budget development/management; work with physical plant to ensure completion of building maintenance. Participate in disciplinary system oversight, crisis intervention, and on call rotation. 12 month live in with direct oversight of a hall housing 80-100 students. Masters Degree desired, preferably in psychology, education or related field; BA or BS required.  Compensation includes salary based on education and experience, on-campus apartment, campus dining meal plan, health and retirement benefits.

 

Director of Student Activities & New Student Orientation/Residence Hall Director (FT).

The successful candidate will coordinate student activities, new student orientation, and student clubs & organizations; advise the campus activities programming board. Manage building housing 80 students, including: discipline, advising, programming, crisis intervention and on call rotation; supervise student staff. Masters Degree desired, preferably in psychology, education or related field; BA or BS required. Previous residence life staff experience is preferred, further preference given to those with leadership experience in a student activities organization &/or orientation programming. Live In. Salary (12 month) based on experience, plus apartment, meal-plan, and employee benefits.

 

Business Manager (FT).

This is a full-time position reporting to the VP for Administration and Finance. The Business Manager is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the College Business Office. Experience with cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and account reconciliations are required. Must be able to motivate and train staff and student workers. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience required. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package.

 

Criminal Justice Professor (FT).

Faculty position in the Department of Political Science beginning fall 2010. Duties include full-time teaching in criminal justice and psychology. The successful candidate will be expected to be an active scholar, an effective student adviser, and otherwise participate in the life of the College. Ph.D. and previous teaching experience preferred. Detailed information about the program is available on the College website: www.blackburn.edu. Admissions Office Manager (FT).

 Under the direction of the Director of Admissions this person's primary responsibilities include clerical assistance to the Director of Admissions and the Office of Admissions recruiting staff, office management, research and preparation of enrollment reports and direct supervision of assigned student staff. Associates Degree in office management or equivalent training/experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), along with strong organizational, communication and planning skills required. Candidates must exhibit the ability to multi-task and be capable of working independently, as well as functioning cooperatively in a team environment.

Director of Institutional Research (FT).

Candidate should possess a strong background in student assessment and program evaluation. Duties will include managing the Office of Institutional Research, working closely with faculty and staff in developing effective assessment and evaluation programs, and coordinating the internal and external reporting needs of the college. Qualifications: Master's required, Doctorate preferred; training and experience in higher education IR &/or program evaluation highly desirable. The successful candidate will have substantive knowledge and skills related to research methods and must have strong communication and team-building skills.
