New Student Work Form

The work program is a great earning and learning experience. You will have the opportunity to reduce your tuition costs, interact with your peers and faculty and staff, learn important work values and skills, and share in the responsibility of meeting the needs of the campus community.

  • Full-time students must work a minimum of 160 hours per semester (an average of 10 hours per week) for which they receive a tuition credit.
  • Students may be hired to work up to ten extra hours a week for pay, based on campus needs and students’ interest, merit, and schedule.
  • Students are involved in a variety of jobs, all of which are important to the college and some of which relate to academic fields and/or possible career paths. A description of the work departments is included with the work application.
  • Based on the needs of the campus, your work experience, and your class schedule you are assigned a job by the student managers your first year in the program. Each year thereafter you have the opportunity to secure your own job.
  • Job placements will be made after new students arrive on campus and meet the hiring managers during a “job fair”.
  • Please complete and return the New Student Work Application.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or want to learn more about the program, give us a call at 1-800-233-3550, ext. 4290.

Freshman Roomate Form

Congratulations on being admitted to Blackburn College. On behalf of all of us in Residence Life I would like to extend a warm welcome to our community. I would like to take this opportunity to acquaint you with our housing assignment procedures.

First, it’s important that you are familiar with your housing options at Blackburn:

Secondly, we’ll need you to complete a roommate questionnaire.

  • We ask you questions on general roommate and living environment preferences. Please be honest as we’ll try to match you with a roommate that has similar living preferences.
  • You may also indicate a specific roommate preference on this form. If you wish to live with a current student or a friend who is also a new arrival to Blackburn College, please indicate his/her name on your roommate questionnaire. BOTH you and your proposed roommate must list each other on your individual roommate questionnaires.
  • Please be sure to rank your residence hall preferences in order from 1-7 with 1 being your top choice.
  • Once you have the form completed, send it back to us.

Third, once we have your $150 room deposit on account AND your completed roommate questionnaire, we will begin housing new students in mid to late May.

  • f you’ve already paid your room deposit, simply send in the roommate questionnaire and you will be on a priority list for housing.
  • If you would like to pay your room deposit, please contact Blackburn at the number below.
