Extensive use of political simulations, role-playing exercises and computer applications in political science give you hands-on experience of political arenas and negotiating solutions. Political science majors are involved in organizing and conducting the annual Model United Nations program where area high school students are invited to attend a day of activities and participate in a simulation of the actual United Nations negotiation process.

Career Opportunities

Many political science majors enter law school or graduate school in public administration, international relations or area studies programs. Career fields for political science majors are usually in the areas of government, teaching, social service agencies, state and local government, practical politics and business

The Program

The political science major provides an in-depth knowledge of the main sub-fields of the discipline – American politics, comparative politics, international relations, public administration, scope and methods of political analysis and public law.
